When checking on the list of articles available, Unbabel will look for articles that have their language matching the default locale set in Guide Admin at that moment. It is not necessary that the language is set as the source language for the articles: if a translation version exists, we can use that text as input for the translation.
If translating from another version of English
If you have article versions for other English locales other than the one you have set up as default for your Help Center, it is no longer necessary to change the default language to see your articles in the Unbabel translation tool. You can now click on Source Locale to pick from any of the locales supported in your HC brand.
1 - Click the language to expand the drop down list
2 - Select one of the locales
3 - The page will reload
4 - Once reloaded, only the articles which have a version written for the selected locale will display. You can select and send them for translation. We will translate the text and content of that locale version.
If translating from a language other than English
Suppose half of your Help Center articles have a US English Version, and the other half a French version (translation or source): when loading kb.unbabel.com, each half will show up for translation as you switch the default language from US English to French. That language will be considered the source language for any Unbabel translation.
In order to request translations in different languages:
1 - Head to your Help Center Guide Admin Settings and select Language Settings. You will be able to see all the languages that you have available as well as your Default Language (usually English US).
2 - Select the new language that you want to translate and set it as default.
3 - The selected language will now show up as Default and the articles written in that language will be available for translation on our integration tool.
When you log back in to kb.unbabel.com or refresh that page, we will display all the articles containing a version of the language set as default.
If you have more than one locale for the newly selected default language, those will be available from the source locale dropdown list.
